This go-to presser foot is a favorite for adding zippers discreetly into your projects, giving them a refined, professional look without the bulk of visible stitching. Perfect for creating elegant finishes with confidence! How to Use: Mark Your Zipper Placement Use a fabric marking pen to mark the zipper length on the right side of the fabric on both sides of the opening. Your zipper should be about 2–3 cm (3/4" to 1-1/4") longer than the opening itself. Attach the Foot & Set Your Stitch Snap on the Invisible Zipper Foot and select a straight stitch with the needle in the center position. Set the stitch length between 2.5 and 3.0 mm. Prepare the Zipper Open the zipper and gently press the coil flat with your thumb—just enough to reveal the seam line between the tape and the coil. (Avoid using an iron directly on the zipper.) Sew the Right Side First With right sides together, place the right half of the zipper on the right side of the fabric. The coil should align with the seam line and start about 1.5–2 cm (5/8" to 3/4") below the fabric's top edge. Pin if desired. Make sure the bottom of the zipper extends 2–3 cm (3/4" to 1-1/4") beyond the bottom of the opening. Stitch the Right Side Press the coil gently to the right and lower the foot so the coil sits in the right groove of the zipper foot. Begin at the top and stitch down to your marked endpoint. Tie off the seam and close the zipper. Position the Left Side Place the left half of the zipper on the left side of the fabric, again with right sides facing. Ensure both coils are level. Pin in place and reopen the zipper. Stitch the Left Side Press the coil slightly to the left and lower the zipper foot so the coil rests in the left groove. Sew from the top down, stopping at the marked endpoint, and tie off the seam. Close the Bottom Seam Switch to your standard zipper foot. Start sewing the seam below the zipper from the bottom edge up, keeping the needle moved to the right so you can stitch close to the end of the zipper seam. Pull the loose zipper end toward the seam allowance and stitch as close as possible to the last stitches of the zipper. Press the seam open for a smooth finish. Tip: If your zipper is too long, stitch across the coil 2 cm (3/4") below the opening using a straight stitch or tight zigzag. Trim the excess, then finish the raw edge with a small piece of fabric for a neat result. With this method, you’ll get a sleek, invisible zipper that looks polished and professional every time!
